Boots Kretzmeier is a certified Journeyman I Farrier with the Brotherhood of Working Farriers Association and a graduate of Oklahoma Horseshoeing school. He currently serves Bosque and surrounding counties. His punctual, mobile service offers a full range of farrier needs including hot and cold shoeing, corrective shoeing, barefoot trims and custom forge work. As a professional farrier, Boots provides services to all breeds and disciplines of horses.   Every horse is individually evaluated and is shod or trimmed with particular attention being paid to balance and movement. 

For over 13 years, Boots has been involved in the horse industry, with the majority of these years being a professional horse trainer.  As a trainer, Boots has worked with performance horses of all ages, with emphasis on starting 2 - 3 year olds.  The experience and knowledge he gained as a horse trainer is evident in his farrier business.  He looks at horses not only through the farrier's perspective, but a trainer’s perspective, too.  Every encounter, good or bad, that a young horse has with a farrier, will impact that horse for the rest of its life.  So, the patience, skill and knowledge of your farrier are extremely important.

Boots takes pride in his work and keeps his clients on a regular schedule. It is important to the soundness of your horse that you maintain this schedule. It takes a full year for your horse to replace its hoof from the coronary band to the ground. So, every time the hooves are allowed to grow too long, it slows down your farrier’s efforts to keep your horses hooves healthy.

As a courtesy to our customers, we offer a drop-off service for their horses.  Our facility, which is located between China Spring and Laguna Park, includes a 12-stall horse barn and large parking area for trailers.  If scheduled in advance, the horse owner can drop off their horse, go to work or run errands, and pick them up later in the day.
